Our Story
Molten Made began with a spark in the summer of 2018.
We met during the July iron casting workshops at Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum in southern Indiana. Surrounded by fire, molten metal, and a community of passionate artists, we immediately recognized something in each other, a shared love for the ancient and powerful process of metal casting and a deep commitment to sculpture.
What started as a connection through art quickly grew into a shared dream.
In 2020, we moved to Asheville with the vision of starting our own fine art foundry. We imagined a place where molten metal, creativity, and community could come together, a space where visitors could witness the magic of casting and experience sculpture being made.
In April of 2024, that dream began to take shape when we opened our first studio at Riverview Station in Asheville’s River Arts District. We were incredibly proud to build the space with our own hands and finally have a public studio where visitors could see our work up close and connect with the art.
Then, just five months later, everything changed.
Hurricane Helene devastated the River Arts District and destroyed our small studio. Losing the space we had worked so hard to create was heartbreaking. For a moment, it felt like the dream had been taken away just as it was beginning.
But the fire that started Molten Made never went out.
We knew we still wanted to build our foundry, and this time, we would build it even better. After a long season of rebuilding, planning, and hard work, we are finally getting close to turning that vision into reality.
Molten Made is more than a studio. It’s a place where art, fire, and community come together. A place where people can learn, watch, create, and experience the incredible process of metal casting.
We’re so excited to share this journey with you.
